Planning a Wedding in Each Neighborhood: Downtown

The Dallas-Forth Worth area spans 385 miles. Each neighborhood that composes the city presents it’s own set of creative minds and vibrant characteristics, so we got to thinking. What if we were to plan a wedding in each neighborhood, using only the vendors present in that neighborhood? Is it even possible?

We found that it was more than possible, and that the results looked a whole lot like a wedding we would like to be invited to.

Here’s a disclaimer: We didn’t include planners or photographers in the line-up since they travel to you anyway. If you are looking for recommendations, jump on our online directory

First up: downtown. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for the rest.

Downtown

Between the Neiman Marcus flagship, Forty Five Ten, and the surrounding hotels, you can pretty much create a dream wedding within a two block radius. Book The Adolphus 19th Floor Ballroom for your ceremony/reception, but jaunt down Commerce to The Joule for pre-wedding spa treatments. Not only can Neiman Marcus supply everyone’s attire, but on the day of your nuptials get your makeup done by one of their many artists and your hair did at the Michael Flores Salon, which is nestled in the NM building.

After locking up your looks, grab your fiancé, and go next door to Forty Five Ten to pick out some presents for your bridal party. With classic options like perfume and jewelry for the gals, turn your focus to more unconventional items like this L’Objet Crocodile Box with Playing Cards or this Tom Dixon Tank Whiskey Decanter for the guys.

By booking the Adolphus for the actual nuptials, they’ll have you covered when it comes to catering and pastries, but for florals you’ll have to branch out just a little. Call on Gro Design, or creep into the surrounding Design District and take advantage of the many florists that call the area home, including Branching Out or Jackson Durham. And while the Adolphus will also provide necessary furniture, up the ante just a little bit by swinging by Bella Accento or Party! Dallas if you’re already paying a visit to the Design District for flowers.

Before you get to your actual wedding day, though, you can’t forget that rehearsal dinner. If you want to keep things consistent, consider booking The French Room right inside the Adolphus, or for a change of scenery, head to the Arts District for an evening mixing and mingling among Picasso, Degas, and Monet at the Dallas Museum of Art. The next morning, return to Forty Five Ten for a bridal brunch at Mirador.

Once you say “I do” and the cake is cut, consider switching venues for a lively afterparty and rent out Waterproof atop The Statler to shut down your night with an up-close view of your favorite city.

To close out your magical wedding weekend, host a day-after brunch at Ellen’s Southern Kitchen, and give your out of town guests the full dose of Downtown Dallas with food that’s sure to cure any day-after blues.
