How to Graciously Negotiate Your Wedding Vendor Rates

Introducing the D Weddings ABCs of Etiquette: Sure, you can flip through Emily Post’s bible of good manners, but what do Dallas brides, planners, and guests expect when it comes to local wedding etiquette? Dallas wedding experts tell us how to graciously navigate every wedding-day situation.

Wedding vendor negotiation doesn’t have to be tricky. Here’s the key: if you’re choosing between two vendors, it’s OK to negotiate—kind of like a job offer. If you’re trying to get a better rate, accept the vendor’s price for what it is. “Negotiating with vendors is OK if you are stuck between two you really love,” Molly Rasmussen of Pop Parties says. “Creative partners like the opportunity to price match or work within your specified budget to win your business. However, if you are just looking for the cheapest option, be upfront about your budget when you contact your desired vendors. Don’t be offended if the vendor you really like is out of your budget. That just means there is a better fit for you with a different partner.”
