Mackenzie Grumbine & Evan Pettit

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Indeed, after seeing a photo of Mackenzie Grumbine on a pal’s phone, Evan Pettit asked the mutual friend to set them up. The pair dated long distance through college and eventually got engaged in Arches National Park.
Having spent years as a bridal model, Mackenzie was ready to play the part for real—but choosing the right vendors to bring her unconventional sense of style to life was critical. Of her Parisian-inspired venue choice and unique floral color palette, she says, “I wanted to feel like I was frolicking through a French garden during springtime.”
Florist Jesse Camargo of Flo.ReaL introduced Mackenzie to ikebana—the Japanese art of flower arranging that focuses on lines and color. “We decided to keep it minimal so the flowers could be appreciated,” says Jesse.
The head table had both ikebana arrangements and bud vases running down the center. “It basically looked like a little flower dance down the table,” he remembers.
